The FS Fehrer Automotive GmbH, based in Kitzingen - Around Hausen created Formpolster for vehicle seats, systems for the vehicle interior as well as cladding and structural parts for vehicles.

history

Founded in Kitzingen in 1875, Fehrer has been a supplier to the vehicle industry since the beginning of automobile production and is family-owned.

First generation: 1875–1903

On September 15, 1875, Friedrich Sigmund Fehrer founded the "First steam horsehair spinning mill FS Fehrer". The material used was horsehair. It was processed and then processed into strands of webbing, in order to then be supplied as upholstery material to craft businesses and mattress manufacturers.

Second generation: 1903–1948

In 1903 Heinrich Fehrer took over his father's company. Under his leadership, the production of quick-pad mats is built up in the 1920s. The introduction of the production of molded rubber hair pads at the beginning of the 1930s marks the company's final orientation towards becoming an automotive supplier.

Third generation: 1948–1989

In 1948 operations were resumed. After the death of his father in 1956, Rolf Fehrer took over management of the company. In the rapidly advancing automotive industry, molded rubber hair pads are quickly becoming the standard. Fehrer reacts with a continuous further development of its rubber hair production technology. In the mid-1960s, at the beginning of the plastics era, Fehrer took up molded foam technology. The company's European orientation also begins with Rolf Fehrer.

Fourth generation: 1989-2007

Claus Fehrer, great-grandson of the company's founder, is the company's managing partner. The company's European orientation continued under his leadership. The establishment of locations on other continents is also under his leadership.

Globalization and Restructuring: 2007 - Today

In 2007 a management board was appointed to manage the group of companies. Under her management, the group was realigned nationally and internationally in order to expand its market position in the important markets of the automotive industry worldwide. The globalization strategy required enormous efforts that resulted in a financial crisis in 2012.

The restructuring phase began in 2012 under new management. Extensive operational restructuring measures were implemented. The austerity program was successful. In 2013 the Fehrer Group again showed a clearly positive operating result.

In August 2014, Fehrer reached an agreement with a strategic investor on a takeover. The owners of the Aunde Group became sole shareholders of the Fehrer Group. With the takeover of Fehrer, the AUNDE Group expanded its product range. All employees and locations worldwide were taken over. The Fehrer brand was retained. Today Fehrer is part of the globally oriented AUNDE Group, which with the brands Aunde, Isringhausen and Fehrer is one of the world's 100 largest automotive suppliers.
