FD Andam
FD Andam (born December 17, 1901 in Berlin , † May 19, 1969 in Munich ; born Friedrich Dammann ) was a German writer , screenwriter and film manager.
Life
Born Friedrich Dammann, he first worked as a freelance writer and worked as a dramaturge on the stage before he joined the film as a screenwriter at the age of almost 30. His first work was the implementation of Christa Winsloe's controversial play Yesterday and Today, a collaboration with the original author. The result, girls in uniform, is considered a masterpiece of a classic film that was critical of society and authority during the Weimar Republic.
Andam's later film manuscripts are far less spectacular. He wrote scripts for comedies and melodramas, war stories and musical comedies - low-demanding entertainment without any meaning, always in collaboration with colleagues. At the beginning of 1941 he directed the young girl's story Aufruhr im Damenstift , set in an artistic setting , in the Schönbrunn studios in Vienna , based on the play of the same name by Axel Breidahl .
After the war, Andam, who had also worked as a supplier of ideas, stepped down as a writer and became head of production at Gloria film distribution.
