Leader of the destroyer
The Führer der Destroyer ( FdZ for short ) was an office of the Kriegsmarine to which all destroyer flotillas have been subordinate since 1939.
history
The command was reorganized on October 26, 1939. It arose from the division of the command area of the leader of the torpedo boats , whose staff was subordinate to the FdZ. The FdZ was subordinate to the commander of the reconnaissance forces until August 1, 1940 , then immediately to the fleet command .
The destroyers were only subordinate to the FdZ as troops, but operationally to local naval commanders or the respective operational command post.
With the dissolution of the command of the leader of the torpedo boats on April 20, 1942, the torpedo boat flotillas were also subordinated to the FdZ.
The command was disbanded on May 29, 1945, including the staff.
Leader of the destroyer
Two of the FdZ died in combat, a total of seven different officers perceived the position.
