F32 (Paralympics)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

F32 is a starting class of Paralympic sports for athletes in athletics . The membership of athletes in the starting class is outlined as follows:

"Impairment of coordination (hypertension, ataxia and athetosis). Moderate to severe paralysis of all four limbs and trunk. The athlete can move a wheelchair. "

The division into classes indicates the degree of functional disability of an athlete that is relevant to competition . Track and field athletes in classes T33 - T38 and F31 - F38 belong to the "coordination impairments ( hypertension , ataxia , athetosis , cerebral palsy , stroke , traumatic brain injury and equals)" . Low class numbers indicate a higher level of impairment than high class numbers. Athletes with class numbers 31–34 start sitting (wheelchair), athletes with class numbers 35–38 standing.

  • F32: Starting class for throwing disciplines in athletics in which the legs are fixed in the wheelchair ,
  • it is started sitting.

In theory, there is also a starting class T32 for racing wheelchair competitions, but this is not accepted by athletes.
