T38 (Paralympics)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

T38 and F38 are starting classes of Paralympic sports for athletes in athletics . Affiliations of athletes to the two starting classes are outlined as follows:

"Impairment of coordination ( hypertension , ataxia and athetosis ). Athletes show clear evidence of hypertension, ataxia, and / or athetosis on physical exams. The impairments are mild to moderate and can affect one to four limbs. Coordination and balance are usually slightly reduced and as a result these athletes are able to run and jump without restriction. "

The division into classes indicates the degree of functional disability of an athlete that is relevant to competition . Track and field athletes in classes T33 - T38 and F31 - F38 belong to the "coordination impairments (hypertension, ataxia, athetosis, cerebral palsy , stroke , traumatic brain injury and equals)" . Low class numbers indicate a higher level of impairment than high class numbers. Athletes with class numbers 31–34 start sitting (wheelchair), athletes with class numbers 35–38 standing.
