FASA Studio (originally: FASA Interactive Technologies Inc ) was an American development studio for computer games. It was founded in 1995 as a subsidiary of the role-playing game publisher FASA Corporation and sold to Microsoft in 1999. In 2007 the studio was closed.

history

After Virtual World Entertainment Inc. (BattleTech Centers), FASA Interactive Technologies was another spin-off from FASA Corporation. It was launched in 1995 to develop computer games under the FASA Corporation brands. In 1996, Virtual World Entertainment and FASA Interactive Technologies were merged to form the Virtual World Entertainment Group. In 1999 Microsoft acquired the Virtual Entertainment Group and moved the FASA development team from Chicago to Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond . Jordan Weisman held the role of Creative Director of Microsoft Game Studios from 1999 to 2002. However, Weisman complained in later interviews that Microsoft had destroyed the corporate culture with the move. The studio developed several titles for the BattleTech franchise and worked with its games for the group to establish the Xbox as a game console. After the unsuccessful release of Shadowrun , the studio was closed in 2007. In the same year Microsoft licensed numerous FASA brands to Weisman's new company Smith & Tinker .
