Smith & Tinker was an American computer game developer based in Bellevue (Washington) . The company was founded by Jordan Weisman , Tim Lebel and Joe Lawandus in April 2007.

On 15 October 2007 the Company announced that it licenses from Shadowrun , MechWarrior , Crimson Skies and other FASA has acquired title.

The first game of Smith & Tinker is an online game ( online battle game ) called Nanovor be, the audience will be 7-12 year old children. The public beta was released in May 2009. However, the expected success did not materialize. As a result, a continuation of the game failed. A porting to Apple devices was considered and led to the layoff of over half of the employees, but these plans could not be implemented.

On June 8, 2009, Smith & Tinker announced that they are currently working with the computer game development studio Piranha Games on the fifth part of the MechWarrior series.

At the end of October 2011, Piranha Games announced that they would continue to work on the game and that they had entered into a corresponding license agreement with Smith & Tinker. However, it should appear as an online game based on the free-to-play model under the name MechWarrior Online in the second half of 2012.

Since Nanovor could not meet expectations and the corresponding rescue measures failed, the studio was closed. The previously acquired rights to Mechwarrior are now back with Microsoft and partially with Piranha Games.

The company's name is based on a fictional character in the Land of Oz book series who is an artist and inventor.
