FASMED is the umbrella organization of the Swiss trade and industry associations for medical technology . It is based in Muri near Bern and today comprises around 240 member companies, which, according to their product portfolio, belong to one or more of the five association sections “Rehabilitation”, “Implants”, “Consumer goods”, “Capital goods” and “Medical imaging, monitoring and IT” .

history

The association was founded in mid-2000 by the organizations Asmed (Association of Swiss Suppliers of Medical Products), FAS (Association of Swiss Companies for Medical and Hospital Supplies) and SVDI (Swiss Association of the Diagnostics and Diagnostics Device Industry).

aims

The association is committed to improving the economic framework conditions for Swiss medical technology companies and strives to maintain the medtech location, research and workplaces in Switzerland as well as ensuring rapid access for patients to new products and therapies and is committed to the Legislative work at national and international level. With its positions, the association gains a clear political voice, e.g. B. with the statement on the Medical Devices Ordinance (MepV) and the associated safeguarding of the free movement of goods with the EU . The overarching goal of Fasmed, according to its own statements, is the "promotion of high-quality, economic and socially acceptable medical care". One of the activities in this regard is the co-founding of the Swiss Implant Register Siris, in which all artificial knee and hip joints implanted in Switzerland must be entered. It helps measure and improve the quality of patient care. Working groups of the association, which u. a. perform prevention work with guidelines for blood sugar self-measurement. With the course to become a rehabilitation technician EFA and the association examination to become a certified medtech consultant, Fasmed also participates in the promotion of skilled workers and young talent. In addition, with the Fasmed Code of Business Conduct, the association advocates ethical business conduct by its member companies in dealing with medical professionals, and provides information and advice on specialist, economic and legal issues.

The association is a militia organization with over 100 active people from the member companies in association bodies. The Trade Commission, the Industry Commission and the Legal & Compliance Commission report directly to the umbrella board. Various project and working groups are subordinate to the sections, which are divided into product groups. The association is coordinated and supervised by the general secretariat .

Partnerships

The association is a member of Eucomed , the European association of the medical device industry in Brussels, and of various, also cross-sectoral Swiss organizations, such as Economiesuisse or the Alliance for Liberal Healthcare. He maintains close cooperation with related organizations such as the Medical Cluster and is also in contact with the most important associations from the Swiss economy and healthcare.
