history
FC Brunnen was founded on May 12, 1931. The club experienced its first heyday in the 1950s, when the Swiss Cup caused major surprises several times: In 1957, the then NLA club FC Winterthur was eliminated in the sixteenth finals , but then had to but in the second round, the eventual cup winners BSC Young Boys were beaten 8-0. A year earlier they reached the sixteenth finals, where they lost 3-0 to Grasshopper Club Zurich . In 1967, FC Brunnen was promoted to the 1st division for the first time, which was the third highest division at the time, but had to return to the 2nd division the following year. However, they rose again in 1973 to the 1st division and missed in the following season against Giubiasco only by one goal the promotion to the then National League B. At the end of the 1977/78 season they rose again to the 2nd division. In 1997 it even crashed into the 3rd division, and during one season FC Brunnen was represented by two teams in the 3rd division. After several unsuccessful attempts at promotion, they made it into the second division in 2010 with the coaching duo Oliver Camenzind / Vincenzo Lamolina. Three years later, a change of coach with Fidé Fässler could not prevent the relegation, but Fässler managed the immediate promotion to the 2nd league and then even the march through to the 2nd league interregional. In 2006 they made it to the second main round in the Swiss Cup as a third division team, where they lost 5-0 to the Challenge League club FC Wil at the time, and in 2015 they failed 2-0 to defending champions FC Sion in the first main round.

Since FC Ingenbohl was promoted to the 4th division, there have been derbies between FC Ingenbohl and the second team of FC Brunnen.
Other clubs in the region
