The Buochs ​​sports club is a football club from the municipality of Buochs in the canton of Nidwalden . He plays in group 2 of the 1st division .

The SC Buochs ​​was founded in 1934. In the beginning athletics was also practiced, which is why the association is called a sports club and not a football club .

The club plays its home games on the Seefeld sports field, which was also created in 1934. The stadium has a capacity of around 5,000 seats, 280 of which are in the new, covered grandstand. The stadium record was set during the promotion game to National League B in 1972, when 5,500 people came to the stadium for the home game against Stade Nyonnais.

The club also has an artificial turf pitch and another pitch, both of which have no stands and are only approved for games in the lower leagues. With 670 members, SC Buochs ​​is the largest sports club in Nidwalden . He runs three active teams, three senior teams and a large number of junior and junior women teams. Along with FC Stans and FC Hergiswil, it is one of only 3 football clubs in the canton.

The biggest successes

The club experienced its greatest success in 1972 when it was promoted to what was then the National League B, the second highest league in Swiss football. After a year, however, they rose again to the first division . SC Buochs ​​played in the first division for most of its history.

Between 1986 and 2002 the club welcomed big players in the Swiss Cup, such as the Grasshopper Club Zurich (1986), FC Chiasso and AC Bellinzona (1988), FC Aarau (1991), FC Baden (1993), FC St. Gallen (1996), FC Basel (1997), Servette FC Genève (1999) and FC Wil (2002). In 1999, FC St. Gallen, which was playing in the National League A , was defeated. In 2009, SC Kriens, for the first time in several years, welcomed a team from the two top leagues at Seefeld, in 2010 SR Delémont and FC Thun and in 2013 FC Aarau in Buochs.

In 2014 they beat BSC Young Boys from the highest Swiss league 1-0 and qualified for the second round of the Swiss Cup. The SC Buochs ​​then advanced to the quarter-finals.
