The FC Waidhofen / Ybbs is a football -Verein from the Lower Austrian town of Waidhofen an der Ybbs . The team played from 1993 to 2011 in the Regionalliga Ost , the third highest division in Austria.

history

FC Waidhofen / Ybbs was formed in 1973 from a merger of the two Waidhofner clubs 1. Waidhofner Sportklub and Union Waidhofen . After the club was able to secure the Lower Austrian regional championship for the first time in 1976 , he rose to the third-class Regionalliga Ost, in which he was able to hold until the league was temporarily dissolved in the 1979/80 season.

After the reintroduction of the regional league in 1985, the Waidhofner managed to return to the 1993/94 season by winning the state championship for the second time in 1993 . Since then, the club has been taking part in the regional league without interruption, and in 2003/04 came second behind SC-ESV Parndorf 1919, the best result until recently.

In the 2009/10 season, the team had the greatest success in the club's history: champions of the Regionalliga Ost.

For financial reasons, the association decided to voluntarily withdraw from the RLO in summer 2011. The entire team then left the club, which was about to dissolve. For financial reasons, SC Waidhofen was founded, which immediately entered into a syndicate with FC Waidhofen. Under the name SG Waidhofen / Ybbs , the club currently plays in 1st class west.
