FICA

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

FICA is the name of the environmental film festival Festival Internacional de Cinema e Vídeo Ambiental, which takes place annually in the central Brazilian city of Goiás .

It was founded in 1999, also in cooperation with the Portuguese CineEco Festival. The aim was on the one hand to promote the discussion of environmental issues, on the other hand to promote culture in Goiás, especially in connection with the intended inclusion of the city of Goiás in the UNESCO World Heritage List (2001).

In addition to the competition films, youth and children's film shows, cycles of Brazilian film, and other thematically appropriate films will be shown outside of the competitions. In addition, workshops on film and environmental issues and a variety of accompanying cultural events are offered, including music, exhibitions and colloquia.
