from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CineEco is the name of the annual environmental film festival in the Portuguese city of Seia , the Festival Internacional de Cinema Ambiental da Serra da Estrela (German: "International Environmental Film Festival of the Serra da Estrela ").

history

The festival was initiated in 1995 by the municipality ( Câmara Municipal ) of Seia. Since then, a film festival with documentaries from up to 30 countries has been held every autumn for between 7 and 10 days, accompanied by concerts, workshops, colloquiums and exhibitions . The venues are on the one hand the municipal culture and congress center Casa da Cultura , on the other hand the screening rooms of the CISE - Centro de Interpretação da Serra da Estrela , a research center for the Serra da Estrela mountains. The public television broadcaster RTP is the official media partner of CineEco.

In 2011 the festival was restructured and the number of films in the competition was reduced from almost 200 to 73, including 30 short films. The film Le temps des grâces des Franzosen Dominique Marchais won the big environmental award in 2011, and under the control of the German director Volker Sattel received a jury award. In 2010 the film Pare, Escute e Olhe by the Portuguese director Jorge Pelicano won the three most important prizes of the festival.
