The Finanzmarktbeteiligung Aktiengesellschaft of the Federation (FIMBAG) is a subsidiary of Austrian Beteiligungs AG , which in the wake of the financial crisis from 2007 was founded on 11 November, 2008. It is responsible for the participation of the Republic of Austria in the financial market. In the package passed by the Gusenbauer government in autumn 2008, 15 billion euros are earmarked for securing the equity capital of banks. As soon as a banking institution makes use of this measure, the state takes over shares in the institution.

The board members are Klaus Liebscher and Adolf Wala , and the chairman of the supervisory board is Hannes Androsch (as of November 21, 2012).

In November 2015 the Council of Ministers decided to dissolve FIMBAG on June 30, 2016. The company has been in liquidation since July 1, 2016.
