Club history

Elektra / Atmosfera / Jovara's club history

The FK (?) Mažeikiai was founded in 1947. In 1961 the first of many changes of name followed and the club called itself ETG Mažeikiai for one year , from 1962 on it was called Elektra Mažeikiai . In 1976 and 1979 during the Soviet occupation , the club was able to celebrate its first two Lithuanian championships under the name Atmosfera Mazeikiai , which it wore since 1973. In 1979 the club also reached the final of the Lithuanian Cup . From 1990 to 1992 the club was called Jovaras Mažeikiai , then again FK Mažeikiai for a year .

FK ROMAR club history

The 1993/94 season , now known as ROMAR , was able to finish in first place in the table and thus qualified for participation in the 1994/95 UEFA Cup . There he was already defeated by AIK Solna in the first and second leg with 0: 2 and was consequently eliminated. To date, this has been the club's only international appearance so far.

FK Mažeikiai club history

The FK Mažeikiai was founded 1995th In 1995, the club had to relegate to the fourth division due to financial difficulties and it was renamed FK Mažeikiai . After two years, the first team rose to the third division and in 2002 they managed the interim promotion to the second division, now under the name Nafta Mažeikiai , which was only worn from 2001 to 2003. From 2009 to 2011 the club was again represented in the A Lyga , but had to relegate to the third division after the 2011 season, after not receiving a license for the new season.
