FMRIB software library
FSL (acronym for FMRIB Software Library ) is, alongside AFNI and SPM, one of the most important software packages for the display (FSLview), processing and evaluation of functional magnetic resonance imaging data. It is being developed at the Oxford Center for Functional MRI of the Brain at the University of Oxford and published under a self-selected open source license ( semi-free software ) - except for FSLview, which is under the GPLv2 . It runs under the GNU / Linux operating system and there in many cases both in the command line and as graphical applications. The compatibility of the text-based and graphic programs and the fact that the latter output or log the command structure means that evaluations can be automated with FSL . There is also an FSL interface in the Nipype software pipeline , which uses Python scripts to enable the controlled, structured and parallelized use of various software packages for evaluating MRT data.
The strength of FSL lies in its complexity and up-to-dateness and especially in the independent component analysis by Melodic for the artifact search and the analysis of residual-state networks and also FSLview and the tools for the evaluation of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging .
