The FSV Lokomotive Dresden (officially: Football Association Lokomotive Dresden eV ) is a football club from Dresden . The first women's team qualified once for the DFB Cup . The FSV Lokomotive Dresden sees itself in the tradition of the historic FSV Lokomotive Dresden , whose men's team played in the second-rate GDR league for 18 years .

history

The historical club FSV Lokomotive Dresden was founded on January 12, 1966 and played in the GDR league until it was relegated in 1984. After relegation, the team continued to play in the third-rate Dresden district league before the club joined the newly founded Dresden SC 98 on July 1, 1990 . The most famous player of the historic FSV Lokomotive was the later coach of the GDR national soccer team, Eduard Geyer . The home venue was the sports field on Pieschener Allee.

Today's club was founded on February 27, 2009 and started playing in the 2009/10 season. The first coach was Udo Hänsel, who was already active for the historic club in the 1970s. The team has been promoted three times in a row since the 2017/18 season and is currently playing in the city league B.

The women's team first appeared in 2010. Four years later, the regional championship in the east brought promotion to the state league of Saxony. In the following season 2014/15, the Dresden women reached the final of the Sachsenpokal against the second team of FFV Leipzig and lost with 0: 9. Since the Leipzig women are not allowed to participate in the DFB-Pokal, the FSV Lokomotive Dresden qualified for the DFB-Pokal for the first time . In the first main round, however, the team had no chance against FSV Babelsberg 74 and lost 5-0.

After eight match days of the 2016/17 season, the FSV Lokomotive Dresden withdrew its team from the Landesliga Sachsen and was the first and only relegated team. The women's team has been playing in the national class since the 2017/18 season.
