The SFM 1-34 were express locomotives of the Strade Ferrate Meridionali (SFM).

history

The 34 uncoupled locomotives were delivered to SFM by Cail in Paris and Pietrarsa from 1863 to 1867 . They were given the numbers 1-34 and were intended for the new SFM route Bologna - Bari .

The vehicles were originally built with a dome-free boiler, but in the 1870s they were given a dome on the middle section of the boiler, presumably to improve steam extraction.

In 1885 the 34 machines were split between Rete Adriatica (26 pieces) and Rete Mediterranea (eight pieces). They were given the designations RA 1–26 and RM 7–14.

In 1905, the Italian State Railways (FS) added twelve copies as 1001-1012 to their 100 series.
