The FV 438 Swingfire is a tank destroyer the time of the Cold War, from British production. It belongs to the FV-430 series family.
When the first vehicles were delivered to the British Army in the 1970s , they were used in special tank destroyers within the Royal Artillery . In the 1980s this unit was renamed the Royal Armored Corps . One regiment had nine FV-438 Swingfire tanks.
The FV 438 is essentially based on the FV 432 transport tank , but is equipped with two starters for the Swingfire anti-tank missile . The FV 438 was able to carry a total of 14 missiles. Reloading was possible from inside the tank.
