Fabian Strauss

Fabian Mario Strauss (born February 8, 1993 ) is a German basketball coach and former player.

career

Originally from Artern in Thuringia , Strauss first played football , then from the age of twelve he also played basketball and, in the latter sport, took part in the school competition Youth trained for the Olympics . It was there that representatives of the Jena sports school became aware of him. From then on, Strauss attended sports school and was trained in basketball in the youth of Science City Jena . The 1.93-meter-tall winger, whose strengths included the throw from distance, made it to the men's team in Jena, playing 13 games in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA in the 2012/13 season . 2013 he moved to SC Rist Wedel in the2. Bundesliga ProB . In 2015 he became ProB runner-up with Wedel. He later rose to become team captain at the club. In addition to his playing activities, he began his coaching career in Wedel, supervising youth teams and at the same time completed a coaching course at the basketball Bundesliga in summer 2017 . In the spring of 2018, Strauss ended his competitive sports career and dedicated himself entirely to the profession of coach. From summer 2018 he was employed as a full-time trainer in Wedel and looked after the club's team in the youth basketball league .

In the summer break of 2019, Strauss moved to the Dresden Titans and took up the positions of coach of the NBBL team and assistant coach of the men's team in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB. At the end of December 2019, he was promoted to head coach of the Dresden professionals when Christian Steinberg said goodbye. Strauss had previously represented Steinberg as head coach during his illness-related absence.
