The Fabra Observatory

The Fabra Observatory (Catalan: Observatori Fabra ) is an astronomical, seismological and meteorological observatory on Mount Tibidabo in Barcelona , Catalonia , at an altitude of 415 m above sea level.

The building was built by the architect Josep Domènech i Estapà and on April 7, 1904 in the presence of King Alfonso XIII. opened and belongs to the Reial Acadèmia de Ciències i Arts de Barcelona . Its main activity is studies of asteroids and comets . It is the fourth oldest observatory in the world that is still in operation.

The comet 32P / Comas Solá was discovered here in 1926 by Josep Comas i Solà .
