from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ma'anling volcano ( Chinese  马鞍 岭 火山 , Pinyin Ma'anling huoshan , literally "horse saddle hill chain volcano") is an extinct volcano on the southern Chinese island of Hainan . It is located in the Shishan Township (石 Groß) in the west of the Xiuying District of Haikou , twenty kilometers from Haikou. Its northern tip is 222.2 m high, the southern tip 186.75 m. It resembles a horse saddle (chin. Ma'an ), hence its Chinese name. There are many caves in its area.

In 2006 the Shishan National Volcanic Geopark was opened in Haikou ( 海口 石山 火山 群 国家 地质 公园 , Haikou Shishan huoshanqun dizhi gongyuan , English Haikou Shishan Volcanic Cluster National Geopark ), which contains over 40 of the 101 volcanoes of northern Hainan.
