Specialist lawyer for inheritance law
The specialist lawyer for inheritance law is a specialist term used by lawyers . It was decided by the statutes of the Federal Bar Association (BRAK) in 2005. Lawyers can acquire this title if they can prove appropriate technical knowledge in inheritance law according to § 14f of the specialist lawyer regulations (usually by successfully passing a so-called specialist lawyer course) and a minimum number of cases actually processed according to § 5 para. 1 lit m FAO .
Areas
According to § 14 f of the Fachanwaltsordnung (FAO) special knowledge in inheritance law in the following areas must be proven:
- 1. material inheritance law including inheritance law references to law of obligations , family , company , foundation and social law ,
- 2. International private law in inheritance law,
- 3. anticipated succession , drafting of contracts and wills ,
- 4. Execution of wills , administration of the estate , bankruptcy and curation of the estate ,
- 5. Tax-related references to inheritance law,
- 6. Special features of procedure and litigation.

As of January 1, 2018, 1,919 specialist lawyers are admitted in Germany.
