The department of general internal administration in Hof belongs to the university for the public service in Bavaria . The department is located on the university campus.

history

After the Bavarian Civil Service College Act came into force on October 1, 1974 and the ordinance on the establishment of departments of the Bavarian Civil Service Colleges on March 1, 1975, the General Internal Administration department was established. Hof was set as the seat of this department.

From April 1, 1975, Horst Müller took over the management of the department. In 1978 an architectural competition was started, which the architects Eicher, Hitzig, Langer and Schindhelm won in Munich. The foundation stone was laid by the Bavarian Minister of the Interior, Gerold Tandler . In 1983 teaching could begin. On February 1, 1985 Günter Hilg became the new head. In the same year, the university facilities were inaugurated by the Bavarian Minister of the Interior, Karl Hillermeier .

EDP has been used at the university since 1986, and an Informix database was set up for administration. In 1987 the association of the Bavarian civil service college Hof e. V. founded.

With the influx of almost 980 embassy refugees from Prague, the number of students literally exploded. In March 1990 the three lecturers Josef Ziegler, Manfred Raum and Dietmar Scheid were elected. In 1992 110 apartments were made available on Enoch-Widman-Straße. 1995 was the strongest year with 751 new students. The extension, which had been built due to the previously increasing number of students, was no longer needed because the number of students decreased. The extension building was handed over to the University of Applied Sciences, which had been newly founded. Many partnerships have been established with other universities, particularly in Europe, partly through EU programs such as Socrates . The number of students stagnated.

The new millennium began successfully for the HföD. The failure rate was 4.1% and therefore below 5% for the first time. Every year 2,300 participants were trained in various training courses. In 2001 Richard Brey took over the management, later he was elected President of the HföD in Bavaria. In 2002, a computer classroom for the administrative informatics course was developed together with the University of Applied Sciences.

Because the higher education law changed in 2003, it was now possible to complete the Bachelor and Master degrees. In May 2004, the member of the state parliament, Alexander König, spoke out against a possible merger of the two universities in Hof.

The competition community of the Hof universities of applied sciences won several championships in the following years. In addition, the university drew attention to itself with a number of initiatives: it concluded an environmental partnership with the university in Caruaru in Brazil and supported the Christmas trucks who collect parcels and bring them to poor people in Southeast Europe.

2010 Richard Brey was elected in his office. In 2011 Harald Wilhelm became head of the university and Hermann Vogelsang became its new president.

In 2013 the university celebrated its 30th anniversary. In 2015, the Science Day of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region took place at both universities. As the number of students rose steadily to 617 new students, a new student residence was built in 2016. In 2017 several new classrooms were built. More than 11,000 students have graduated since it was founded.
