In 2017, around 270 agricultural service professionals graduated. The proportion of women in training is less than 2%.

Professional profile

The tasks of agricultural service specialists in the cultivation of arable land are to work the soil depending on the type of soil and crops, to check the seeds and plants and to spread them with the help of machines, to fertilize the crops and to treat them with pesticides and also to take measures to maintain the landscape . In addition, agricultural service specialists harvest crops with the help of harvesting machines such as combine harvesters or maize choppers and transport the crop. Their main task is to operate and guide agricultural machines, for which they have to adjust and set up the machines depending on the work order and weather conditions. The on-board instruments, which are computer-controlled in modern machines, have to be adjusted and the resulting data evaluated.

Since there is little work to be done on the farmland, especially during the winter half-year, one of their tasks is to look after, maintain and maintain the agricultural technology. They should be able to recognize and eliminate errors and malfunctions. During the training they should also learn to carry out repairs and maintenance work.
