history

The interior of the half-timbered church Luckow

The church had a previous building that survived the Thirty Years War , but was then destroyed in the later Northern War . The new church - the baroque half-timbered building - was built between 1724 and 1726. The weather vane on the nave shows the year 1725 and the one on the tower 1726 with the inscription SDG (Soli Deo Gloria - God alone). The church was under the patronage of the rulers and lords of the village Vogelsang, the von Enckevorth family from Holland, whose coat of arms is attached to the gallery. There were also the seats of the patron and his family.

It was restored from 1996 to 1999 on the initiative of Pastor Wulf Gaster.

Architecture and churchyard

The half-timbered church from 1724/26 has a polygonal east end, a half-timbered tower top, as well as a southern and northern entrance porch, which are two-storeyed and allow access to the patronage boxes. The church was built from wood and clay from the area and in earlier centuries was freely visible from afar. The interior ceiling is flat.

The grave of Pastor Friedrich August Cleve, who was in office here from 1878 to 1902, is located in the churchyard. The parish cemetery is south of the church. It has been sponsored by the municipality since January 1, 2012.

Furnishing

The interior contains a wealth of equipment. The pulpit altar is set up in the round eastern end of the choir . The pewter candlesticks on the altar and the sacrament implements , as well as the small lead-glazed window sashes opposite on the west side under the gallery, come from the old church . During the restoration, the initials of the Prussian king F (riedericus) R (ex) W (ilhelm) III with the crown and on the right those of C (hristian) F (riedrich) v (on) E ( nckevorth) rediscovered. There is also a family coat of arms of the v. Enckevort. The altar is surrounded by a semicircular enclosure with balusters.

Next to the pulpit altar are two oil paintings by Luckower pastors. On the left is a portrait of Carl Jacob Wegener, who was pastor in Luckow from 1785 to 1837. On the right is a picture of the garrison pastor, recognizable by the medal on his gown, Friedrich August Clewe, pastor in Luckow from 1878 to 1902. On the right and left of the wall there are memorial plaques with the names of those who died in the First World War.

The church was buried in the 18th century, as evidenced by a grave slab in the center aisle in front of the altar, which was made to Dorothea Louisa Wegener, nee. Weylandt (April 18, 1737 - July 28, 1796) remembered. She was the mother of Carl Jacob Wegener. It has not been researched whether her grave is under the grave slab, since opening it could result in destruction of the building fabric, problems with monument preservation and unforeseeable costs. The Wegener family had the grave slab and the oil painting restored by Carl Jacob Wegener due to their old ties to this church. The hill on the north side of the church is a brick burial vault that was found during the renovation from 1996 to 1999.

The prospect of the baroque organ has been preserved, for which recesses were made in the wooden beam ceiling. Today's instrument was made in 1883 by the Szczecin organ builder Emil Kaltschmidt by downsizing and converting the original organ.

The oldest votive ship in eastern Germany, restored in 1996/97, is unique . The frigate from the time the church was built was donated by Joachim Gast, presumably the captain of the heavy artillery ship. There had been many battles in the Szczecin Lagoon and the model of the church was donated as thanks.

There are three bells hanging in the tower.
