Quedlinburg desert

The Quedlinburger Wüstungen are former villages in the vicinity of the Quedlinburg Abbey , which were abandoned and fell desolate during the late Middle Ages . The traces of this desolation are exposed again and again during archaeological investigations. The following places were once owned by the monastery (clockwise, starting in the northeast):

  • Tekendorf (exp. 1351, desert 1493),
  • Ballersleben (adult 804, wüst 1400),
  • Order of Lütgen (ext. 1167, wüst 1466),
  • Sülten (ext. 961, wüst 1390),
  • Grand Order (extended around 800, desolate before 1477/93),
  • Gersdorfer Burg (ext. 961, desolate 1267),
  • Bicklingen (ext. 961, wüst 1490),
  • Quarmbeck (ext. 936, wüst 1426),
  • Knippelrode (ext. 1179, wüst 1465?),
  • Mars life (extended end of the 8th century, desolate 1399),
  • Groß Sallersleben (adult 961, wüst 1421/79),
  • Klein Sallersleben,
  • Kamperode (ext. 1241, wüst 1422).
