Grand Order

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Groß Orden is a desert around one kilometer east of Quedlinburg and an important archaeological site in Saxony-Anhalt .

The former village complex is one of the Quedlinburg deserted areas . It was located on the eastern side of the Bodetal on the Bicklingsbach and was mentioned around 804 as Orda . The village existed until 1477 when the villagers moved to Quedlinburg. Rediscovered in the 19th century, the church was uncovered during "archaeological" excavations and the gold disc brooch with antique gems , which is shown today in the Quedlinburg Castle Museum, was discovered.

More than eight large excavations have been carried out on the former village area since the 1990s. For example, a lot of evidence of textile production in the 10th century, such as looms or a complete limestone turning shop, was uncovered.
