The Factory Bluffs ( English for factory cliffs ) are 120 m high cliffs on Signy Island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . They tower south of Signy Station and Factory Cove .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on December 20, 1974 after a small factory that was in operation below the cliffs on the banks of Factory Cove for processing whale carcasses from the 1920s to the 1930s .
