Thread epilation
The Fadenepilation is a method of temporary hair removal and thus the hair removal . With her, the hair is removed by quickly twisting a thread between the fingers of both hands and at the same time passing it over the body so that the hairs get caught between the thread and are removed.
Terms
In Germany, thread epilation is also known as thread technique. The term thread epilation is not very well known. The thread epilation is z. T. also called Band Andazi . In the English language the method is called threading .
origin
Thread epilation - like Halawa - comes from the Orient. It is mainly practiced in countries such as Egypt , Afghanistan , India , Iran , India, Turkey and other countries in the Orient. Since the body hair of the population of the Middle East and North Africa is often thicker and stronger (see also idiomatic hirsutism ) than in northern and East Asian peoples, other methods of body hair removal, such as plucking with tweezers, could not prevail in the long term.
For a long time, thread epilation was not known in Europe. This method has been spreading in Anglo-Saxon countries and also in Germany since around 2010. Since the use of the thread technique is not registered statistically, there are no reliable data on the spread of the method. However, the increasing spread of brow bars can be an indicator of the spread of the thread technique. One thesis for the increasing spread of thread epilation in Europe is the increasing immigration of people from many countries in the Orient to Europe in recent years . In this sense, the immigrants enrich European culture through the traditional techniques they have learned in their home countries.
application
In principle, thread epilation is suitable for all body regions. Since the application on larger areas of skin such. B. the leg is very expensive, it is usually only used on the face .
The thread epilation is carried out mainly by brow bars, but also by hairdressers or cosmetic studios.
Advantages of thread epilation
The main advantages of thread epilation are the following:
- The thread epilation can be carried out much faster than removing the hair with tweezers due to the lower number of pulling movements.
- Removing hair using thread epilation is less painful than other epilation procedures.
- With the repeated use of thread epilation, the hair becomes finer and finer over time and the hair growth becomes increasingly weaker.
- The thread epilation promotes the blood circulation in the facial skin.
- In contrast to hair removal with warm wax or sugar paste, there is no risk of burns.
- In contrast to tweezers, the tiniest hairs and vellus hairs (fluff) can be captured by the thread, so that the result is a much clearer facial image.
- Since only one thread is used, allergy-related skin irritations ( contact allergies ) cannot occur.
Disadvantages of thread epilation
The following disadvantages are mentioned with regard to thread epilation:
- Thread epilation, as well as other forms of epilation, e.g. B. with tweezers or cold wax strips , must be repeated approximately every 4 to 6 weeks.
- With thread epilation, as with any epilation, inflammation of the hair follicles can occur.
- The use of thread epilation requires a lot of experience. If facial hair is to be removed, it takes a lot of practice to remove your own facial hair.
