Fajr (prayer)

Fajr ( Arabic الفجر ṣalāt al-fajr ) is one of the five mandatory prayers in Islam . It is the first prayer of the day and takes place early in the morning. In Ramadan it also marks the beginning of the daily fast .

Prayer time

The time of Fajr prayer starts at dawn and ends at sunrise. The different schools of law set the beginning of dawn differently, so that the length of time for performing the prayer varies.

composition

The Fajr prayer consists of two rakʿa sunna and two rakʿa fard . Unlike the longer prayers of the day, the Fajr prayer may not be shortened during a trip or in a comparable situation. The two rakʿa fard are compulsory.
