Faff-Bey is a Finnish thrash metal band from Oulu that was formed in 1985, split up in 1997 and reunited in 2005.

history

The band was formed in 1985 in Oulu. The first demos were sung in Finnish , but after the original singer had left the band and guitarist Maike Valanne also took over the vocals, the lyrics changed to English . After the EP S / M Party was released in 1988 on their own label Grave Records, the band reached a contract with Bad Vugum Records . The first two album releases Back from the Grave (1988) and Doesn't Keel Like Laughing (1989) followed on this label . Between these two album releases, the single Emptyhead was released in 1989 . Before the release of Doesn't Keel Like Laughing… Kessler also joined the band as the new bass player. After the release of the second album, the band reached a contract with Poko Rekords . The album Birthday was released on this label in 1991 . In 1992 the single Ace of Spades followed , which contained a cover version of Motörhead 's song of the same name. In 1994 the next album followed with New Religion . After the release, Petteri Lammassaari joined the band as the new drummer because Jarodia's hand was so badly injured in an accident that he would never be able to play the drums again. The band played a few more concerts until they broke up in 1997. In 2005 the group got together again to play some concerts. In addition, Poko Rekords released a compilation called Should Have Stayed in the Grave , which included the band's last studio recordings as well as four previously unreleased songs from a 1996 demo session. In the summer of 2005 a few more appearances followed.

style

The band plays aggressive Thrash Metal, whereby the vocals are somewhat based on Death Metal . The music can be compared in places with Slayer and early works by Celtic Frost .
