Lift hood
The driving hood is part of the traditional miner's costume . It is made of white fabric (linen) and was used in the Middle Ages to protect miners when driving underground . It was later replaced by the driving or shaft hat, from which development then led to leather caps or helmets and today's industrial safety helmets .
