The Faironika is the symbol cow of the European Milk Board and thus also of the Federal Association of German Dairy Farmers . In Italy her name is Onestina , in France she is called Justine .

Appearance

The cows are mostly life-size, have uniform shapes throughout Europe and are made of plastic. The German Faironika is held in the colors of the German flag. There are similar cows in other European countries in the respective national colors.

History and purpose

Faironika is an Austrian invention. There, IG Milch, the Austrian counterpart to the BDM, invented Faironika in order to have a presentable and at the same time mobile symbol for the milk price fight. The Faironika has been around since autumn 2007, it was created when the European Milk Board was founded . The Faironika promotes fair payment for dairy farmers and can be seen at protest events across Europe. It is intended to create a close relationship between milk producers and consumers.
