Falk Nimmerjahn

Falk Nimmerjahn (* 1972 ) is Professor of Experimental Immunology and Immunotherapy at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). In 2007 he received a research grant from the Bavarian Genome Research Network, and in 2009 he was awarded the Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstädter Young Talent Award for outstanding achievements in the field of biomedical research in Germany, which is awarded to people aged 40 or under.

After studying biology in Bayreuth and Erlangen, Nimmerjahn worked at the Helmholtz Center and the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich as well as at Rockefeller University in New York. Since February 2007 he has held a W2 professorship at FAU. In March 2010 he accepted the chair for genetics at FAU.

Nimmerjahn's research is in the field of antibodies and their importance for the development of autoimmune diseases such as arthritis or multiple sclerosis . In particular, he studies the factors for the development of autoantibodies .
