The Falkland Harbor ( Norwegian Falklandhavna ) is a natural harbor in the southwest of Powell Iceland in Archipelago of the South Orkney Islands .
The Norwegian whaling captain Petter Sørlle mapped the bay between 1912 and 1913. It is named after the factory ship Falkland of the Rethval company from Oslo , which at that time operated for whaling in the waters around the southern Orkney Islands. Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations converted the Norwegian name into English in 1933.
