Faludden
Faludden is a small peninsula with a lighthouse in the southeast of the Swedish island of Gotland . Faludden extends eastward about five kilometers from Storsudret, the peninsula in the southernmost part of Gotland.
location
The peninsula is about eight kilometers east of Burgsvik , 26 kilometers south of Hemse and 72 kilometers south of Visby.
Nature reserve
Much of the peninsula, 291 hectares, is designated as a bird sanctuary. The salt meadows located there ( Swedish strandangar ) form relatively large, open areas without trees or bushes and are frequented by many birds. Various bird species breed there too, especially waders such as the godwit , oystercatcher , ruff , curlew , redshank , avocet and dunlin . It is therefore forbidden to enter the site between mid-March and the end of June.
Faluddens fyr
The lighthouse was built in 1867 as a decagonal cast iron tower and is painted white.
