The family crypt of the knight Horsky von Horskysfeld ( Czech hrobka rytíře Horského z Horskýfeldu ) is located in Ovčáry , Okres Kolín in the Czech Republic .

location

The Horsky Crypt is located south of the St. James Church in the cemetery wall in the center of Ovčáry. Your entrance portal is directed towards the village square.

Building

The pseudo-Gothic burial chapel was created according to plans by the Viennese architect Moritz Hinträger , who had designed the Horskysfeld country palace and the renovation of the Kolín palace for Horsky during his lifetime . It has the plan of a common cross with equal arms and is built into the cemetery wall. The arched portal leading to the village square has an artfully forged grille in the arched reveal above the entrance gate, which shows the crowned colored coat of arms of the Horsky von Horskysfeld knights in the middle.

Inside there is a bust of Franz Seraph Ritter Horsky von Horskysfeld, created by Josef Tulka, in the entrance axis on the north wall . There are two tin coffins on either side; the right with the remains of Franz Seraph Ritter Horsky and Horskysfeld (1801–1877), the left with the bones of his grandson Adolf Richter (1847–1924). Above the coffins there are German-language plaques on the wall with the names and dates of the deceased. The grave of Horsky's second wife Karoline, nee Hartmann von Hartenthal (1824–1889) is located in the floor under a grave plaque. The empty coffin of Horsky's adopted daughter Johanna Hartmann von Hartenthal has also been in the crypt since 2007.

The Horsky crypt is part of the overall complex of the Jakobuskirche and is protected as a cultural monument 30023 / 2-829.

history

The owner of the Kolín manor, Franz Seraph Ritter Horsky von Horskysfeld, died on April 6, 1877 at Horskysfeld Castle and was first buried in a family crypt in the cemetery at the Church of St. Bartholomew is buried in Býchory . Presumably his adopted daughter Johanna Hartmann von Hartenthal was buried there beforehand. After the completion of the new crypt in Ovčáry, his coffin was transferred there. The empty family crypt in Býchory with two grave slabs on which one can read Horsky's name, the other that of his adopted daughter and probably that of his mother Eleonora Horsky, née Kassianová (1780–1826), was preserved in 2010, but is said to be in the course of the Redesign of the former cemetery to a park to be eliminated.

In 1971, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the company Synthesia Kolín (now Lučební závody Kolin ) founded by Horsky as a sulfuric acid and superphosphate factory, the crypt was repaired at the expense of the Kolín District National Committee and the company.
