Fantasy flowers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fantasy flowers is a Polka - Mazurka by Johann Strauss II (op 241st). The work was performed on October 14, 1860 in Pavlovsk , Russia for the first time.

Remarks

The polka was created on Johann Strauss' sixth trip to Russia and was premiered on October 14, 1860 in Pavlovsk. In Vienna, the composer presented this work to his audience on November 25th of the same year at an event in the local Volksgarten . But the Viennese couldn't get excited about it. As a result, the polka fell into disuse and was rarely performed, if at all. This was also due to the fact that the composer's many compositions sometimes displaced each other from the concert schedule. There was simply an oversupply of such works. Some Strauss experts, however, appreciate the music of this polka very much.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 4 minutes and 14 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
