A new building has been in operation since 1945. The tower is registered under the international number E-0288 and the national identifier 35380 and irradiates a sector from 88 to 160  degrees .

History and architecture

The project for the first 6th order lighthouse was designed by Emili Pou y Bonet and approved in 1862. The nine meter high round stone lighthouse was opened on September 15, 1864 on the eastern cape at the port entrance. Since it was established in 1865 that the location at a blowhole and the waves that towered up to 30 m high in north-west storms were directly endangering the building, the lighthouse keeper moved to nearby accommodations. The lighthouse Far del Cap Gros and the lighthouse Far de sa Creu, built on the opposite side of the bay, were the first lighthouses in the Balearic Islands to be supplied with electricity from January 1918. Due to problems with the cabling, the reserve system with a petroleum-powered Maris lamp had to be put into operation for a few hours almost every night.

From 1923 the lighthouse was unmanned. Huts from the construction time of the tower in the vicinity served as apartments for the lighthouse keepers and their families. In 1928 a new lighthouse was planned and new apartments were built. The tower entered service on May 30, 1945.
