from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Farabert (Latin Farabertus , † 952 or 953 ) was Bishop of Liège and Abbot of Prüm and Lobbes.

Life

Farabert may have come from Lorraine. From 935 he was abbot of Prüm. In 947 or early 948 Farabert became the new bishop of Liège and Tongeren. He was also abbot of Lobbes monastery. On April 30, 948 he was named for the first time in a document by King Otto I , and in July he was at the synod in Ingelheim . On July 4, 952, Otto I gave the Aldeneik monastery to him and the Liège Monastery. This was his last mention in a document. In the Lobbes Abbey, monastery breeding is said to have been very neglected during his tenure.

Farabert is said to have died on August 28, 953 (?), His successor Rather was appointed in September. Farabert was buried in the Cathedral of St. Lambertus in Liège.
