Faranzala

The faranzala was a measure of weight in the various governorates of Yemen and especially in Loheia .

  • 1 Faranzala = 20 Rottel / Rotoli / Rättel (heavier) = 9.227 kilograms

This Rottel was the so-called heavier one with 16 ounces / Wakia / Wakiah to 10 drachms / Derhem (= 160 drachms) and weighed 461.37 grams . It was intended for larger goods. The light rottel for the fine goods weighed 403.7 grams and was equal to 140 drachmas.
