(4194) Sweitzer is a main belt asteroid discovered on August 15, 1982 by Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station of the Lowell Observatory .

The asteroid was named after Paul A. Sweitzer , a reporter for the Arizona Daily Sun newspaper from 1958 to 1994.
