Farbrausch , also farb-rausch , is a German demo group.

history

With the release of the intro fr-08: .the .product in December 2000, Farbrausch achieved great popularity in the demo scene . Their demo fr-025: the.popular.demo , which was published at Breakpoint 2003, has also gained notoriety far beyond the scene's borders.

In 2004 the division of farbrausch .theprodukkt released a 96 kB small first-person shooter called .krieger , as well as an early version of a tool for creating demos called .werkkzeug .

Farbrausch gives all publications a “product code” in the format “fr-0 #”. The number is not related to the date of publication, but rather, according to the members of farbrausch, indicates the order in which work on the project was started. Productions that are not meant to be taken seriously also have a “minus” in their names.

Both The.Popular.Demo and debris. are two of the most popular demos according to the comparative index Pouët . The works of farbrausch have won numerous prizes from the demo scene: The.Popular.Demo won the “Public Choice Award” of the Scene.org awards in 2003 , and .debris 2007 the prize for best director.

In April 2012, Farbrausch published the source code of many of their demos on GitHub either under the BSD license or in the public domain .
