.kkrieger is a first-person shooter from the German demo group .theprodukkt (former part of Farbrausch ), whichwon first placein the 96k game competition at Breakpoint in April 2004. Until recently (2014) the game was in beta .

Development history

.kkrieger been since mid-2002 by .theprodukkt with the Integrated Development Environment .werkkzeug developed in the then unreleased version .werkkzeug3.

Process generated content

The game makes extensive use of procedural generation methods to create content . Instead of saving images as pixels , their history is saved. As a result, only the respective history and the generation code are compiled in the executable file , which results in a relatively small file size. The lattice models are based on bodies such as cubes and cylinders, which are brought into the appropriate shape with the help of special modeling techniques. Both generation processes lead to the long loading times of the game, as the content has to be generated each time it is started.

.kkrieger only requires 97,280 bytes of disk space. According to the developers, .kkrieger would take up between 200 and 300 MB of storage space if stored conventionally.

The music and sounds in the game are generated by a V2 said multifunction synthesizer that of a permanent MIDI - stream is supplied. The synthesizer then generates the music in real time.
