Farideh Chalatbarie (also: Farideh Khalatbaree ; * 1948 in Tehran ) is an Iranian publisher and author of children's books .

Life

After training in Great Britain, she founded the Shabaviz publishing house in 1984, where she also publishes her own works. She lives and works in Tehran. Her books are not only available in Iran, but in many other countries around the world, including South Korea and Germany. In her publishing house she also publishes her own books, which are illustrated by various Iranian illustrators. Chalatbarie has received several awards for various books, including at the Children's Book Fair in Bologna and from the International Youth Library in Munich. Her book “Der Schakal am Hof ​​des Löwen” has so far been published in German. Chalatbarie often uses traditional Iranian stories in her books. To date, she has won the New Horizons Award four times for her books (2004, 2006, 2010, 2012) at the children's book fair in Bologna and was also mentioned several times in the White Ravens catalog of the International Youth Library in Munich. In 2012 she was a member of the jury for the award The Extraordinary Book of the children and youth program of the Berlin International Literature Festival .
