FasTracks

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

FasTracks is a long-term major urban transit expansion plan for the Denver - Aurora area in the US state of Colorado with a volume of 4.7 billion US dollars. The carrier is the local transport association Regional Transportation District (RTD). The project is financed through federal funds, private grants and an increase in sales tax in the entire region that took place in 2005.

Six new light rail or regional train lines with a total length of 192 km are to curb the rapidly increasing number of commuters in Denver between 2013 and 2018. Further extensions of the existing lines are planned until 2044. Existing tram stations and bus routes will be integrated into the plan.

Line network

The long-established Union Station in Denver will be a major transfer point, with 200 million US dollars to be invested here alone.

The line network is designed in a star shape. The names of the lines and their planned → endpoints are:

1 The I-225 Rail Line is to be built across Aurora as a tangential line between the East and Southeast Rail Line.

In April 2013, the West Rail Line, the first 12.1 mile rail section built under the FasTracks program, opened from Denver Union Station to Jefferson County Government Center in the city of Golden, west of Denver.
