Fathi Shakaki
Fathi Schakaki ( Arabic فتحي إبراهيم عبد العزيز الشقاقي, DMG Fatḥī Ibrāhīm ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz aš-Šaqāqī ; also Fatchi Shkaki ; * 1951 in the Gaza Strip ; † October 26, 1995 in Sliema , Malta ) was a Palestinian doctor from Rafah and one of the founders of the " Islamic Jihad in Palestine " (PIJ).
Schakaki studied mathematics at Bir Zait University and medicine in Egypt , where he graduated in 1981. Inspired by the Muslim Brotherhood , he became one of the founders of the " Islamic Jihad in Palestine " (PIJ). In 1983 the practicing doctor was sentenced to one year in prison and in 1988 expelled from Israel to Lebanon . At times he lived in Damascus .
On October 26, 1995, Shakaki was shot dead in front of a hotel in Malta. The assassination attempt was carried out by the Israeli secret service Mossad . His position as general secretary of the PIJ was taken over by Ramadan Shallah .
