Fatou Mbye (politician)

Fatou Mbye is a Gambian politician.

Life

Mbye earned her Higher Teachers' Certificate from Milton Margai College of Education and Technology in Sierra Leone .

She worked as a teacher from 1972 and was also an education officer in the Ministry for primary and secondary education . She was from around 2004 in place of Fatou Lamin Faye Head ( Director General ) of the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI).

On November 29, 2010, she was nominated by President Yahya Jammeh to the National Assembly and unanimously elected Deputy Speaker of Parliament. She succeeded Abdoulie Bojang , who had previously moved up from deputy to speaker. She held this office until the change of government after the parliamentary elections in Gambia in 2017 .

She also served as Chairperson of the National Women's Council and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS).

Since 2010 she has been the holder of the Order of the Republic of The Gambia in the member level .
