The K10 is a large dump truck from the German manufacturer Faun , which was presented in 1956. It is designed for the transport of large amounts of overburden in opencast mines and large construction sites with difficult conditions. When designing this early West German rigid-frame dump truck, American concepts for such vehicles were used.

technology

The vehicle is a two - axle all - wheel drive front control arm (4 × 4) with a tipping body. It is 5.9 m long, 2.5 m wide and 2.815 m high; the wheelbase is 2.6 m. The K10 versions are powered by an in- line six-cylinder diesel engine from Deutz AG (then KHD). With a displacement of 7983 cm³ , it develops 125 hp (92 kW) at 2300 rpm. The maximum torque is 450 Nm at 1200 rpm. The drive is diesel-mechanical , the maximum speed of the K10 / 26 A version is specified by the manufacturer as a maximum of 60 km / h. The fuel consumption is between 20 and 25 liters per 100 kilometers. The power is transmitted to the axles with an AK 6-55 six- speed gearbox , cardan shafts and worm drives . The last version, the K10 / 26 AP , got planetary gears on both axles - countershaft gears on the wheel hubs. The one-man cabin sits to the left of the engine compartment above the left front wheel. The tipping body of the K10 / 26 A is 4 m long, 2.26 m wide and 0.8 m high. It can be brought from the horizontal into the tilt position with a hydraulic cylinder .
